The 'Eaters make their big non-conference trip up to the state of Oregon for three matches in two days against the Redhawks, Bruins, and Vikings

  • The Anteaters are 0-4, but have taken a point in every match and multiple points in each of last week's matches

  • The women's tennis squad finished the fall quarter with the highest grade point average in UCI athletics. "This team takes great pride in their studies and I'm so happy they are being recognized for all their efforts. This is quite an impressive accomplishment," praised coach Ferris.
  • Five Anteaters were among the 113 student-athletes on the Fall 2021 Dean's List - Dasee Carter, Megan Mansonhing, Shreya Pavani, Mia Totah, and Jessica Tsukiji - by taking 12 or more units with a 3.500 GPA or higher

  • UCI held a lead twice Friday vs. Grand Canyon in its home opener before ultimately falling, 4-3
  • UCI fell to UC San Diego for the first time in program history and begin Big West play at 0-2
  • Fourth different Anteaters secured singles points on the weekend between Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico, Alyssia Fossorier, Emily Fowler, and Mia Totah.
  • Wins from doubles came Friday by Gonzalez-Rico/Schlatter and Fowler/Totah to win the point
  • Three Anteaters won multiple matches on the weekend in Gonzalez-Rico, Fowler, and Totah each winning a singles and doubles match

Seattle U Redhawks
A pair of programs searching for their first wins of 2022 meet up in Beaverton, Ore. on Saturday with UC Irvine and Seattle U. The Redhawks are 0-4 with road losses to Utah, Montana, Montana State, and Oral Roberts. Their trip last weekend was canceled to play South Dakota, Gonzaga, and Eastern Washington in the state of Washington.

Seattle U are coming off a 1-16 season a year ago winning its lone match in the WAC Tournament and 16 of their 17 matches coming away from home. UCI and Seattle U have met one time before in 2017 in a 5-0 Anteater loss.

The trio of Lillya Dimova, Mireia Fehr, and Elena Kraleva have combined to play in the top two singles spots. Overall, Seattle U has five dual match singles wins , and Fehr and Kraleva have four overall wins between duals and fall season.

George Fox Bruins
The Bruins open their season Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against UCI. It will be the first Division I opponent for GFU since 2017.

The Division III squad went 9-3 in 2021 with a 6-2 mark in conference play.

The majority of the squad is new for the Bruins led by fifth-year Danielle Brown and junior Ellie Mangan who was perfect 5-0 in singles and 7-1 in doubles in 2019-20.

Portland State Vikings
The Vikings will finish the weekend against the Anteaters after taking on Seattle U on Friday. The Vikings are 2-3 with losses to Oregon and Portland and 2-1 against lower-division schools.

Portland State was just 1-16 a year ago with the one win coming in the Big Sky Tournament.

This year, they registered 13 singles dual match wins led by four different players at No. 1 singles. Nika Beukers has had the most success going 3-0. Doubles is 10-3 to this point winning four of five doubles points, and are a perfect 5-0 at No. 2 doubles led by the duo of Majo Hernandez and Emily Rees at 4-0 overall.
