UCI will entertain UC Riverside Friday (Nov. 4) at 7:00 p.m. then UC Davis Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Bren Events Center.
STORYLINES
UC Irvine is 14-8 overall and 7-5 in Big West action.
UCI is 10-1 when playing at home on Court 21.
The Anteaters have played eight five-set matches this season, winning four.
UCI dropped a 3-0 contest at UC Santa Barbara before taking a 3-2 win at CSUN last week.
UC Riverside is 4-17 overall and looking to snap a four-match losing streak. UCR is 2-10 in Big West matches.
The Anteaters swept the Highlanders in the first meeting of the year behind 11 kills from
Marianna Bertolone and eight block assists from
Ellen Veargason.
UC Davis enters the week 9-13 overall and 4-8 in The Big West.
Last week, the Aggies beat UC Riverside (3-1) then lost to Hawaii (2-3).
Shira Lahav was named The Big West Defensive Player of the Week, collecting 32 digs over two matches.
UCD beat UCI, 3-2 in Davis earlier this season.
Bertolone topped the squad with 11 kills followed by
Joy Umeh and
Onye Ofoegbu with 10 kills each. Olivia Utterback led the Aggies with a match-high 16 kills.
The Anteaters are ranked 29
th in opponents' hitting percentage (.168) and 31
st in blocks (2.52).
UCI is second in the Big West in kills (13.35), assists (12.50) and digs (15.60).

Middle blocker
Onye Ofoegbu is ranked 43
rd nationally in total blocks with 104 and is 53
rd in blocks per set at 1.24.
Ofoegbu is currently eighth all-time in UCI block assists with 277. Kristin Kelley (2005-07) is seventh with 283 and Kris Roberts (1985-88) is the school record holder with 377.
The junior currently has 93 block assists, 10 shy of moving into 10
th in the season record book where Shannon Fleming sits at 103 set in 2013.
Offensively, Ofoegbu is second in The Big West in hitting percentage (3.66), fifth in points (4.16) and eighth in kills (3.27).
SETTING THEM UP
Setter
Kelly Negron has recorded six consecutive double-doubles and has 11 on the season.
The junior is averaging 6.02 set assists, which is 10
th in the Big West as well as 2.33 digs on the year.
LAST WEEK REWIND
Against UCSB, the Anteaters hit a season-low .039 (26-22-102). Ofoegbu and
Joy Umeh led UCI with six kills each.
In the win over the Matadors, Ofoegbu had a season-high 19 kills and six block assists. Freshman
Kendra MacDonald made the start and totaled a career-high 10 kills and match and career-best 15 digs. She also fired two aces.
