Men's Golf Ties for 11th in Final Fall Tournament

LAHAINA, Maui - The UC Irvine men's golf team closed out the Ka'anapali Classic in a tie for 11th Sunday at Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
The Anteaters finished their fall finale with a 54-hole score of 849 (-3), marking the fourth time in as many tournaments they came in below par. The 'Eaters tied with Boise State, while nine of the 10 programs that finished ahead of them were ranked among the top-75 in the nation.
No. 11 Oklahoma ran away with the title, leading the 20-team field at 41-under (811). Clemson's Andrew Swanson carded a tournament-best 63 in the final round to claim individual medalist honors with an 18-under 195 (64-68-63).
Freshman Rei Harashima was UCI's top finisher, tying for 32nd at 3-under 210 (68-70-72). Harashima has shot at or below par in each of the last three tournaments.
Freshman Andy Zou had the Anteaters' best round of the day, firing five birdies and closing out the weekend with a 2-under 69. Zou moved up nine spots in the standings, tying for 40th at 212 (70-73-69).
Redshirt freshman Jin Nakao had four birdies, including one on his final hole to get to 1-under 70. He also tied for 40th with a three-round total of 212 (69-73-70).
Juniors Darien Zhao (216) and Kolbe Irei (220) tied for 75th and 90th, respectively.
UC Irvine will take a break from competition before starting the spring portion of its schedule by co-hosting the Orange County Collegiate Classic, Feb. 13-14.
