Harashima in the Lead After Two Rounds at Bill Cullum Invite

VALENCIA, Calif. - Freshman Rei Harashima sits atop the individual leaderboard while UC Irvine is second through the first two rounds of the Bill Cullum Invitational Monday at The Oaks Club at Valencia.
The Anteaters' 5-count-4 lineup combined for a 36-hole score of 9-under 567 (283-284), putting them four strokes behind host CSUN.
Harashima will enter tomorrow's final round with a one-stroke lead after posting back-to-back sub-70 scores for a 7-under 137. He started the tournament with a clean scorecard, registering a 69 with three birdies and no bogeys. Harashima kept the momentum in the second round with a collegiate-best 4-under 68 where he fired six more birdies. The only blemish of his day was a double bogey in the second round.
Junior Darien Zhao is tied for second at 6-under 138. Zhao held the lead through the first 18 with a 68 (-4). He got to 6-under before a double bogey on the final hole of the opening round. Zhao then carded a 70 (-2) in the second round.
Junior Kolbe Irei also came in below par as he is tied for 10th at 1-under 143 (71-72). Redshirt freshman Jin Nakao is tied for 37th (149) and freshman Andy Zou is tied for 43rd (150).
Competing as individuals, sophomores Johnny Bai (73-74) and Kevin McGough (71-76) are both tied for 31st with a 147.
The 'Eaters return to The Oaks Club at Valencia Tuesday morning for the final round of the Bill Cullum Invitational which gets underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
