Benay Weintraub Named Women's Tennis Assistant Coach

Women's tennins head coach Elizabeth Ferris announced the addition of Benay Weintraub to her staff in August. Weintraub will serve as an assistant coach for the Anteaters.
 
Weintraub comes to Irvine from DIII Amherst College in Massachusetts. At Amherst, Weintraub assisted in the recruiting the 4th ranked recruiting class of 2020 and the 18th ranked recruiting class of 2019 announced by TennisRecruiting.net. During the 2018-2019 season, Weintraub helped coach the team to the NCAA Elite 8 and a singles player to NCAA semi-finals.

The Women's Tennis Team and the UCI community has a rich tradition of leadership, collaborators and winners. I look forward to working with Coach Ferris and the student-athletes, and continuing to create success on and off the tennis courts," said Weintraub.

Prior to joining Amherst, Weintraub was the assistant men's and women's Tennis coach at Millsaps College and served as the recruiting and social media coordinator. She played a key role in securing the majors' Class of 2017, which was recognized as the 23rd ranked women's recruiting class by TennisRecruiting.net. In 2017, the men's tennis team was a SAA Conference finalist.
 
Weintraub has experience at the NCAA Division II level having served as the compliance coordinator and assistant coach at Western New Mexico University.
 
Weintraub is a 2017 Class 43 graduate of WeCoach, the WeCoach Mentorship Program and is an active member of the organization.
 
At each stop, Weintraub coached players to NCAA regional and national rankings. She helped student-athletes to the All-America and ITA Scholar-Athlete Teams. She was involved in practice planning, on-court match coaching, team fundraising and court maintenance. She served on multiple institutional leadership committees and has been a SAAC Advisor.
 
Weintraub is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. In 2019, Weintraub received her master's degree in exercise and sports studies from Smith College. She earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and nutrition sciences from Whittier College in 2015. At Whittier College, Weintraub was a four-year member of the tennis team, earned the title of ITA Scholar-Athlete and was a member of SAAC. Weintraub is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).
