No. 13 Anteaters Down Concordia, 14-5

IRVINE, Calif. – No. 13 UC Irvine sailed past local rival Concordia, 14-5, Wednesday evening at Anteater Aquatics Complex.

UCI improved to 5-2 on the season while CUI falls to 1-5 overall. The Anteaters improve to 8-1 all-time against the Eagles.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Casey Lynton matched a career-high five goals while dishing out four assists and grabbing four steals. Lynton also drew two exclusions
> Zlatan Nikocevic finished with a hat trick, scoring three goals while Grant Chiponis had two
> Nikola Ilic, Tyler Padua, Archer Sauer and Stewart Campbell each had one goal
> In the net, Harrison Land played the first three quarters finishing with three saves, two steals and an assist while Zayd Mahmoud grabbed seven saves in eight minutes of action
> CUI's Jeff Runyan finished with two goals

QUARTER ONE
> Lynton got the 'Eaters on the board at 5:47, scoring on a five-meter penalty
> Ilic and Chiponis each found the back of the net to make it 3-0 after the first eight minutes

QUARTER TWO
> CUI scored twice to make it 3-2 with 5:02 remaining
> Nikocevic and Campbell added back-to-back goals to give the 'Eaters a 5-2 lead with 2:54 to play
> The Eagles would score at 1:54 before Lynton fired in a goal to give UCI a 6-3 lead at the intermission

QUARTER THREE
> Lynton continued his scoring attack, firing in three-consecutive goals to break open the Anteater lead, 9-3, with 3:34 to play
> Chiponis tacked on another UCI goals before CUI would score to make it 10-4 after three quarters

QUARTER FOUR
> Padua scored at 7:11 followed by back-to-back goals from Nikocevic
> Sauer found the back of the net at 3:42, marking the final goal of the game for both teams
> UCI locked down on defense as Mahmoud made seven saves in the quarter and earned the 14-5 victory
