IRVINE, Calif. -- Beginning September 20, 2021 and in accordance with guidance from the California Department of Public Health (
CDPH), UC Irvine Athletics will require fans (age 2 and older) in attendance to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before an event starts, for indoor events.
These guidelines are subject to change at the direction of the health department and are in place unless otherwise directed by the CDPH.
Identification of events in which these protocols will be in effect will be located on both the sport schedule as well as the UC Irvine Athletics ticket purchase page. Proof of vaccination or a negative test result must be shown at a designated area outside of the event venue upon arrival.
The following forms of vaccine verification will be accepted:
- COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided and dates doses administered; OR
- A photo of a vaccination card; OR
- Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider; OR
- State of California Digital COVID-19 vaccine record that includes a QR code, name, date of birth, vaccine dates and vaccine type (Can be found https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/)
A person is considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 two (2) weeks or more after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna or other vaccine authorized by the World Health Organization), or two weeks of more after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).
The following are acceptable as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result:
- A printed document from the test provider or laboratory; OR
- An electronic test result displayed on a phone or other device from the test provider or laboratory.
The information must include the person's name, date of test performed, type of test performed and negative test result.
Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver's license or other document that visibly identifies the person on the proof of vaccination and test result is required for ages 18 and above.

All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask while indoors at UCI facilities unless actively eating or drinking.Â
