Lee, Team Canada Finish Fifth at FIBA U19 World Cup

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine freshman Deja Lee helped Team Canada to a fifth-place finish at the 2021 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary, Aug. 7-15.
 
Lee, who appeared in all seven games off the bench, averaged 1.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 7.7 minutes per outing. In a 66-58 win over Russia, the 5-foot-9 point guard pulled down 10 boards. She then finished with five points, five rebounds and two assists to help Canada to a 72-61 victory over the Czech Republic in the fifth-place game.
 
Canada went 1-2 in group play, but upset previously unbeaten France, 79-72, in the Round of 16. They advanced to the quarterfinals where they dropped a 72-61 decision to eventual silver medalist Australia.
