
Seventy Anteaters Named to 2021 Big West All-Academic Team

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine had 70 student-athletes named to the 2021 Big West Winter and Spring All-Academic Teams the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Each of the Anteaters' winter and spring sports had at least two representatives on the all-academic team. Women's water polo (13) and women's track & field (11) led the way, combining for 24 selections.
Men's volleyball saw seven student-athletes earn all-academic recognition, while baseball, women's tennis and men's basketball had six each. Women's basketball (5), men's tennis (5), men's track & field (5), women's golf (4) and men's golf (2) also had multiple honorees.
To be eligible for the Big West All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average, complete one full year at their member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received and compete in at least 50% of their team's contests. Baseball pitchers are exempt from any minimum participation requirements, while track & field student-athletes must have competed in either 50% of their team's meets or participated in the conference championship.
