Anteaters Conclude Action in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. -
The UC Irvine women's track & field team finished up the second and final day of the Beach Invitational with the jumps, sprints, hurdles and relays Saturday at Jack Rose Track.
 
On the track, UCI's 4x100 (47.33) and 4x400 (3:56.84) relays had the top times of the afternoon.
 
Freshman Mia Marquez led the Anteaters in the 400m, clocking a personal-record 56.75. Senior Cecily Montanez (58.40) wasn't far behind, while senior Kayla Rodriguez added a lifetime-best 59.73.
 
Freshman Aryel Coats took sixth in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 12.53 seconds (-1.6w). Senior Natalie Koppel also placed seventh (12.68), and junior Jaida Robinson was 10th (13.03).
 
Graduate student Kayla Richardson paced a trio of 'Eaters in the 200m, posting a time of 24.54 while running into a headwind of 2.3 meters per second.
 
Sophomore Amari Fraser added an eighth-place showing in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.84.
 
In the field events, senior Natalie Koppel came in sixth in the long jump (17-04.25), and Coats was eighth (16-08). Junior Sara Griffith also matched her season best in the high jump, clearing 5-01. Senior Hanna Coloma contributed a ninth-place showing in the triple jump (35-06.75).
 
UC Irvine is back in action next Thursday, April 22, when it hosts Cal State Fullerton in the OC Dual.
