| By:
Irvine, Calif. - UC Irvine student-athletes continue to shine academically as virtual learning remained during Winter Quarter.

Men's volleyball and women's golf posted the top two highest team GPA's for the winter quarter while 13 UCI teams earned a team grade-point average above a 3.0.

Women's golf recorded a department-leading team GPA of 3.74. The team had four student-athletes make the Dean's List and four Anteaters earn a perfect 4.0 GPA. Women's golf also earned the top GPA in the department for the fall quarter.

"I have so much pride and appreciation for this team," said head coach Julie Brooks. "They work so hard in the classroom and to win in the fall quarter and now in the winter quarter is so impressive and I can't thank them enough for striving for excellence every day!"

Men's volleyball had nine student-athletes earn a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the Winter Quarter, including one student-athlete earn a perfect 4.0 GPA.

"This year, our student-athletes were faced with unique challenges," said head coach David Kniffin. "I am proud of their attitude and leadership, controlling what they could control, in the realm of academics. This is an impressive achievement."

In the winter quarter of 2020-21, 132 student-athletes were honored on the Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, individuals need 12 or more undergraduate graded units in a quarter with a GPA of 3.500 or better.  Graduate students are not included on the Dean's List, but 10 graduate student-athletes were a 3.0 or above for the quarter.
