Box Score Long Beach, Calif. – After a well-played win Friday, UC Irvine could not find a rhythm Saturday, leading to a 3-0 sweep by Long Beach State, (16-25, 17-25, 11-25) at the Walter Pyramid.

The Anteaters hit -.044 (19-23-91), while LBSU hit .310 (39-13-84). The Beach out-blocked UCI 9-5 and owned a 6-3 ace advantage. They also topped UCI in digs, 42-27.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Middle blocker Onye Ofoegbu had a team-high six kills and two total blocks
>Sophomore Joy Umeh followed with five kills
>Libero Bailey Darnell had a match-best 10 kills
>LBSU's Kashauna Williams led all players with 13 kills and five block assists

TURNING POINTS
FIRST SET
>Four straight kills by The Beach gave LBSU an early 4-1 lead
>The lead would stretch to 11-2 as UCI would hit -0.273 (1-4-11) to Long Beach's .538
>UCI could never get close, losing the opener, 25-16
> LBSU's Tia Chavira served six points in the first stanza

SECOND SET
>Two Anteater errors and a Beach kill gave Long Beach State some separation, 8-6
>Back-to-back Beach kills followed by LBSU's sixth block put them up 14-9
>UCI's Carrissa MacDonald came in and made an immediate impact with a solo block and ace helping the Anteaters close within 23-17
>LBSU would score the final two points of the set and win 25-17

THIRD SET
>UCI's block came alive with three early in the set, two by Onye Ofoegbu, to lead 7-4
>LBSU would explode, scoring 15 in a row to take control of the set, 21-8
>The Beach would close out the match with back-to-back blocks, 25-11

>Umeh's five kills were her fewest since she had a season-low four on Sept. 10 versus Fairfield
>Darnell, who has started the last two matches, recorded double-digit digs in each contest
>The Anteaters are 5-7 on the road this year
