IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine dropped a 3-1 loss to Hawaii at the Bren Events Center Saturday.
UCI snaps a three-match winning streak and goes to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the Big West.
The Rainbow Wahine remain undefeated in Big West action (6-0) and are 9-5 overall, winning 20-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-15.
Hawaii's defense was key, out-digging UCI 60-48.

FIRST SET

>Hawaii would return the favor and out-score UCI 13-3 to take a 15-10 lead and force a UCI timeout
>In a game of runs, UCI would score four unanswered in a 7-1 spurt to tie it at 17-17
>With the score tied at 19 all, Hawaii scored three in a row to regain the lead, 22-19
>A kill by Ofoegbu and two Hawaii attack errors would tied again, 22-22
>A kill by Bertolone and Hawaii error would give UCI set point (25-24), but UH came back to take the final three points, all kills with the last two from Brooke Van Sickle, 27-25
FOURTH SET
>Two kills by Riley Wagoner, a UH ace and a UCI attack error gave the Rainbow Wahine a 14-10 lead
>UCI would get as close as 14-13, but Hawaii would close out the match out-scoring UCI 11-2 to win 25-15
