IRVINE, Calif. – No. 13 UC Irvine dropped a 17-7 decision to No. 2 Cal Saturday afternoon at Anteater Aquatics Complex.

UCI falls to 7-6 on the season while Cal improves to 14-1 overall.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Casey Lynton and Zlatan Nikocevic led the Anteaters with two goals apiece
> Dylan Patist, Grant Chiponis and Stewart Campbell each scored once
> Harrison Land and Garrett Selby split time in goal. Land played the first half and made three saves while Selby saw action the final 16 minutes, tallying two saves
> Cal's Roberto Valera finished with a game-high four goals

QUARTER ONE
> The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Nikocevic would score on a powerplay at 6:04
> Cal went on a 3-0 scoring run to go up, 5-1

QUARTER TWO
> Lynton fired in a goal on an extraman opportunity at 5:12
> The Bears would answer, scoring four-straight to take a 9-2 lead at the half

QUARTER THREE
> The UCI offense came alive in the third quarter, outscoring the Bears, 5-4
> Chiponis fired in a goal at 7:38 followed by Lynton scoring on a powerplay at 6:39 to make it 9-4
> Cal added two points before Patist made it 11-5 with a goal at 5:03
> Nikocevic and Campbell scored back-to-back goals for the 'Eaters at 3:49 and 2:52, respectively, to bring the game within five, 12-7
> Cal would score in the final 30 seconds to go up, 13-7

QUARTER FOUR
> The Anteaters were unable to find the back of the net in the final eight minutes as the Bears earned the 17-7 victory
