Box Score IRVINE, Calif. –
Joy Umeh put away a career-high 26 kills in UC Irvine's 3-2 victory (19-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10) at the Bren Events Center Saturday.
Umeh's 26 kills is the most by a Big West player this year. The outside hitter took 54 swings, hitting .333, while adding five digs and three block assists.
Long Beach State held a 12.5-12.0 advantage in blocks, but the Anteaters' 12 blocks are the second-best team total of 2021.
UCI improves to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the Big West. Long Beach State goes to 9-10 overall and 3-5 in the Big West. With the win, UCI leads the Black & Blue Rivalry presented by Duke's of Huntington Beach, 5-0 over Long Beach.
