UC Irvine Opens Play at Hagedorn Hidden Dual

SAN DIEGO - The UC Irvine men's tennis team kicked off the fall season with the first day of the Hagedorn Hidden Dual Friday at the University of San Diego.
 
The Anteaters opened the three-day tournament with two doubles matches against Denver and four singles matches against Kennesaw State.
 
The 'Eaters swept the Pioneers in doubles as Matthew Sah and Thomas Smart teamed up for an 8-6 victory against Mattia Ros/Nicolas Herrero Cuesta. Ali Amiri and Mike Mkrtchian also defeated Peter Sallay/Daniel Krulig, 8-5.
 
UCI went up against Kennesaw State in singles play. Sah was the lone Anteater to come out on top as he outlasted Harvey Conway in three sets. After splitting the first two, Sah finished strong for the 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 win.
 
UC Irvine is back in action at the Hagedorn Hidden Dual tomorrow, while Riccardo Roberto is also set to play in the pre-qualifying singles round of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
