During the month of July, UC Irvine Athletics is highlighting some of the top team performances of the 2019-20 academic year presented by UCI Health.
 
Anteaters Roll Past Saint Mary's

Back in early February, the UC Irvine men's tennis team earned its first win of the dual-match season in convincing fashion, defeating Saint Mary's, 6-1, at Timothy Korth Tennis Complex. The Anteaters clinched the match before SMC got on the board.
 
In their third dual match of 2020, the 'Eaters made some changes to their doubles lineup and it quickly paid off. Mateusz Smolicki and Mark Peneff, who were playing together for the first time, dispatched Boris Reckow/James Watt, 6-2, at No. 1.
 
The Gaels answered with a 6-4 victory at No. 3, putting the fate of the doubles point on court two where Bruce Man-Son-Hing and Daniel Gealer stepped up to the challenge, taking down Matis Bot/Karlo Divkovic, 7-5. It was Man-Son-Hing's 40th career doubles win.
 
Smolicki and Peneff carried the momentum into their respective singles matches at the top of the lineup with each picking up a straight-set win. Gealer then clinched the match with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 triumph over Divkovic at No. 3.
 
The rest of the courts played out their singles matches with Jeremy Merville and Mike Mkrtchian both outlasting their opponents in three sets.
 
UCI's victory at Saint Mary's started a three-match win streak. The Anteaters also went on to take five of their last six matches before the season was canceled in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Their only loss during that stretch came at No. 17 UCLA.
