Zani Meaders, a member of the women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams, has upheld a cumulative GPA of higher than 3.4 throughout her two years at UC Irvine. An English major, she recently earned recognition for Highest Honors on the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll. Meaders was also named to the MPSF All-Academic Team following the 2020 indoor track & field season.
The sophomore sprinter has also had a highly decorated career on the track thus far. After establishing the indoor 400m school record in 2019 as a freshman, Meaders went on to surpass the record twice during the 2020 season. She recorded a then program-best 55.70 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational, then proceeded to top that performance with a personal-best 54.81 at the MPSF Championships. Meaders was also a member of the 4x400 squad that ran a school-record 3:48.68 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. In addition, she registered a personal-best 25.05 in the indoor 200m, vaulting her to No. 4 in program history.
The Chino Hills native was equally impressive during her first outdoor track & field season in 2019. Meaders won the 400m on two occasions, and earned All-Big West honors after a third-place finish in the conference finals where she notched a personal-record 55.00 to move up to No. 3 on UCI's all-time top-10 list.
