LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team wrapped up action at the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship Saturday at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.
Freshman Ali Amiri and sophomore Antoine Barthe saw their run in the main draw come to an end. After winning three matches yesterday, Amiri and Barthe dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Ignacio Martinez/Rafael Gonzalez Almazan of San Diego State in the Round of 16.
Sophomore Mark Peneff and junior Mateusz Smolicki also fell in the consolation round of 16. The Anteater duo battled with 21st-ranked Oklahoma State's Luke Hammond/Maksim Tybar, but ultimately came up short, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
UC Irvine returns to Anteater Tennis Stadium to host Bucknell in a 1 p.m. showdown on Sunday, March 8.
