IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer held firm against the Cal Golden Bears, but a long, lofty goal was all the Pac-12 squad needed to upend UCI Friday night, 1-0, in Anteater Stadium.

Cal (6-0-0) held a most of the possession early, and were rewarded with a goal in the 21st minute. The Bears played the ball around the offensive third with Luca Deza feeding one out to the right wing. Emma Destin launched a high arcing shot toward the far post that was too tall for keeper

On The Attack
With the match still within reach, both sides continued on the attack with the Anteaters (1-6-0) pouncing on some chances trying to break through the formidable Golden Bear side. UCI managed to pepper the net with five shots in the match, three on target, but Angelina Anderson stood up to each of them thwarting a UCI comeback.
