| By:
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine and Cal Baptist met for the first competition of the 2019 soccer season Friday night in Anteater Stadium in an exhibition contest.

Getting In The Game
The Anteaters and Lancers each put out regular starters minus Anteater keeper Maddie Newsom. The Anteaters played their starters through the first half while using nearly the entirety of their bench in the second half which included three keepers in all

Anteater Scoring
UCI started the scoring with a goal in the 13th minute. Alex Jaquez and CBU keeper Abigail Tyhurst both went for a ball at the top of the box coming together simultaneously. The ball bounded away from them right to Aleah Kelley, and she fed Jessica Miclat along the left side who fed the ball into the open mouth as a CBU defender's sliding attempt to save it went four nought putting the 'Eaters on top, 1-0.

Lancers Take Advantage
Cal Baptist scored three times in the second half against the UCI reserves starting in the 62nd minute. Rebecca Romero was the recipient of a good bounce as Amy Aquino's cross was punched by Taesja Paopao that landed right at her foot and she was able to punch it home to tie things at 1-1.

CBU added a pair of goals late on great individual efforts. Ari Coronado laced a shot from the top of the box to give CBU its first lead in the 77th minute. The Lancers sealed the game in the 88th minute as Kacie Dennis sent a ball from right along the right sideline high and inside the far post to make it a 3-1 game
