HONOLULU - The UC Irvine men's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over UC Riverside in a Big West neutral-site match at the UH Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Hawai'i.
 
The Anteaters (12-5, 1-1 Big West) swept through doubles play before winning five of their six singles contests in straight sets. They snapped the Highlanders' four-match win streak as UCR dropped to 17-11 overall and 0-1 in conference.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH
> Vatsal Bajpai and Mateusz Smolicki got UCI started with a 6-2 triumph over Andreas Whelan-Meredit/Kyle McCann at No. 2.
> Mason Hansen and Sasha Krasnov then clinched the point by defeating Gilbert Chung/Nabil Abdallah, 6-3, at the third position.
> It was the second match together for Hansen and Krasnov as the newly formed duo is now 2-0.
> Luis Lopez and Bruce Man-Son-Hing completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win over Anderson Ju/Vignesh Subramanyan.
> Lopez/Man-Son-Hing played at No. 1 for the first time this year but were not fazed as the pair improved to 11-1 overall.
> UC Irvine kept the momentum in singles with Smolicki dispatching Subramanyan, 6-2, 6-3, on court four.
> Krasnov followed with an impressive 6-3, 6-2 win over McCann at No. 1.
> Lopez also took down Abdallah, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2 to secure the victory for the 'Eaters.
> Daniel Gealer (7-5, 6-4) and Aaron Bailey (6-2, 6-3) came out on top in their respective matches at No. 5 and No. 6.
