Baseball Sweeps Awards Again with Pallante, Lewis

| By:
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine concluded its successful weekend with another sweep of the Big West awards with the second each for Brandon Lewis and Andre Pallante.

Pallante started things off Friday with another fantastic performance two-hitting the Cougars through seven innings picking up five strikeouts. He did not allow a run either to stretch his scoreless inning streak to a new UC Irvine program record of 25.2 straight innings eclipsing Andrew Morales' 2014 mark of 23 IP. Pallante improved to 4-1 on the season while lowering his ERA to 2.02.

Lewis ended the weekend on a bang busting out for two home runs on Sunday to lead an Anteater comeback in an 8-4 win and claim a series sweep over Washington State. Lewis hit .500 for the weekend (5-for-10) with five of his six RBIs coming on Sunday. He's up to conference highs of nine HRs and 30 RBIs while topping the Big West in slugging and total bases as well.

It's the second straight week with Anteaters claim both awards, and second straight week Pallante has been one of them. Pallante is now up to four weekly awards for his career, and Lewis took his second honor adding to his accolade in the season's second week with his performances against SDSU and Rice. The program now has matched their total from 2018 with six total.

UC Irvine embarks on Big West play starting this week with a trip to Hawai'i over the weekend after a midweek matchup Tuesday at home against San Diego.
