IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine snapped its seven-game winning streak after falling to Utah, 7-0, Wednesday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
 
The loss brings UCI to a 9-4 record on the season. Utah improves to 13-5.

"We played a well coached Utah team today. Each player on their team has a clear sense of their brand of tennis and that is probably one of the most important things in the game. I was hoping for more of an inspired effort but we looked emotionally flat, perhaps the previous three matches took too much out of us. Utah rallied back from 0-3 at 5-5 to hold serve at No. 1 doubles and they never looked back. If we had won that match, I think we end up with the doubles and the momentum changes the emotional tenor of the singles and gives us the spark we needed today. On the positive side, our top three players are finding their groove and the things we need to do to be a better team are in our grasp. Hopefully our guys will focus on the positive and start believing in themselves, individually and collectively. I know I believe in this team."
