Box Score IRVINE, Calif. –No. 3 UC Irvine struggled offensively and lost to No. 2 Hawaii 3-0 (33-31, 25-19, 25-14) in the first meeting between the two schools at the Bren Events Center Friday.
The Anteaters hit a season-low .182 (33-17-88) to go to 13-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big West. Hawaii remains unbeaten at 11-0 overall and picks up its first Big West win (1-0).
COACH KNIFFIN SAID
"The first set felt like a No. 2 versus No. 3 match-up. Hawaii kept the pressure on more consistently tonight. This is an area we know we need to, and can, improve."
