Box Score SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – A strong serving game helped Cal Poly to a 3-0 victory (27-25, 25-15, 25-22) over UC Irvine at Mott Athletic Complex Friday.

Cal Poly, one of the best serving teams in the nation, fired 11 aces and out-blocked UCI, 9-4. The Mustangs out-hit the Anteaters .264-.156.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>UCI (5-22, 2-13) was led by outside hitters Abby Marjama and Joy Umeh and middle blocker Onye Ofoegbu with six kills each
>Setter Kelly Negron tied her career-high with 17 digs to go with 24 set assists, an ace and a block
>Cal Poly's Maia Dvoracek had 16 kills and three aces as the Mustangs improve to 19-8 overall and 12-3 in the Big West.

TURNING POINTS
FIRST SET
>Kelly Negron started the match with an ace and Abby Marjama also had one to give UCI a 4-2 lead
>Cal Poly went ahead 9-7 following four straight points
>The teams would remain close and the Anteaters would take a 21-20 lead on a Marjama kill
>Following a Mustang kill, UCI recorded a to go up 23-21 on back-to-back kills by Kelly Negron and Onye Ofoegbu
>CP responded with the next three kills to reverse the lead and hold set point 24-23
>A Marjama kill tied it up once again, but the Mustangs would score the final two points on a kill and an ace to take the set 27-25

SECOND SET
>Cal Poly jumped out to a 5-2 lead early then built a 13-6 advantage on a 8-4 spurt
>Consecutives aces extended the Mustang lead to 18-10 and an ace ended the set, 25-15
>UCI hit .000

THIRD SET
>Cal Poly started with a 5-1 lead on the strength of three aces by Mika Dickson
>A kill by Ofoegbu, a Mustang attack error and an ace by Erin Alonso knotted the score at 7 all
>UCI would jump in front 12-9 on an ace by Ofoegbu and a kill by Marjama
>Cal Poly rallied with the next three points to tie the score at 12-12
>A 3-0 run gave Cal Poly a 17-15 lead
>A kill by Carrissa MacDonald and a Mustang attack that sailed wide tied the set at 17-17
>The teams would trade points until 22-22 when Cal Poly would record the final three kills to take the match, 25-22

NOTES
>It is the fourth consecutive match, Negron has recorded a double-double and the 13^th of the season
>Abby Marjama had two aces to up her team-leading total to 28
