RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Irvine women's cross country finished sixth out of 23 teams at the Highlander Invitational Saturday morning at the UCR Ag/Ops Course.
The Anteaters have placed among the top-eight in all four of their meets this season.
Sophomore Hannah Chau also notched her second consecutive top-five individual finish, coming in fifth in a field of 207 runners (fourth among collegians). She completed the 6000-meter course in 20:59.56, which would have ranked ninth in school history if she didn't already hold the program's fourth-best time.
UCI's next three runners crossed the finish line within a five-second span of each other. Sophomore Patricia Sanchez was 33rd with a personal-record 22:04.63. She made a nearly 15-second improvement from her first career 6K at the UCR Invitational on Sept. 14.
Seniors Anastasia Karnaze (22:06.61) and Mariah Theologidy (22:09.62) were right behind her in 35th and 38th, respectively.
Freshman Claire Livengood rounded out the scorers for the 'Eaters with a lifetime-best 22:29.66 (48th).
Freshman Elizabeth Celada Padilla added a PR 22:30.11 (50th), while senior Brenda Dorantes took 56th (22:40.69). In her first career 6K, freshman McKenna Paulson clocked in at 22:42.27 to come in 58th overall.
