IRVINE, Calif. -- This week's Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the Week is women's volleyball player
Ali Koumelis. The redshirt senior recorded season-highs in kills, assists, points, aces, and total blocks last weekend at the CSU Invitational, while leading the Anteaters to sweeps of Cleveland State and Bowling Green.
Koumelis started the invitational with 34 assists, 10 digs, three kills and a season-high three blocks versus CSU. Her first of two double-double performances of the day led the 'Eaters to a 3-0 victory over the host Vikings. Later that day, the setter recorded her second double-double in a 3-0 win against Bowling Green, while also notching season-highs in aces (3), points (6), and assists (43). Her 43 assists in three sets against BGSU set a match high in the Big West Conference.
Over 24 sets, she averaged 11.56 set assists and 3.22 digs, making the all-tournament team alongside teammate
Loryn Carter. Koumelis now ranks fourth in assists in the Big West.
This week, Koumelis and the Anteaters face-off against Pepperdine on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Bren Events Center before playing in the LBSU/UCI Invitational over the weekend. UCI will take on Fresno State in Long Beach on Friday before returning to the Bren Events Center Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. match versus Southern Utah.
