IRVINE, Calif. – Haley DeSales had a career-high 23 digs and Loryn Carter had a team-high 14 kills in UC Irvine's 3-1 loss to Texas Tech at the UCI/adidas Invitational held at the Bren Events Center Saturday.

TTU dropped the first set 23-25 then came back to win the final three: 25-13, 25-18 and 25-22.

The Anteaters go 0-3 at their home tournament and drop to 1-5 overall. Texas Tech went 2-1 in Irvine and are 6-1 overall.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Texas Tech dominated the net with a 14-6 advantage
>Outside hitter Loryn Carter topped UCI with 14 kills, while adding two aces and two block assists
>DeSales' career-best 23 digs were also a match-high. The libero popped up 55 digs over 12 sets this weekend
>Texas Tech was led by Emily Hill with 17 kills and six total blocks
>The Red Raiders had 60 digs with three players recoding double-figures. Setter Missy Owens had 11 digs to go with 50 set assists and five kills

TURNING POINTS
SET 1
> Idara Apakpa and Loryn Carter got UCI out to a good start as they teamed up for a block then Carter had a kill followed by three by Akpakpa, 5-0
>The duo paired up for another block and Carter had a kill and an ace to extend the lead to 14-8 forcing a Red Raider timeout
>Texas Tech made a run, out-scoring UCI 6-0 to close to 18-16 before Makayla Wolfe had back-to-back kills to curb the momentum
>TTU scored the next four, the last a dump by Missy Owens pulling the Red Raiders even at 20-20
>Akpakpa dominated the set, hitting 1.000 (6-0-6), including the final kill of the set, 25-23

SET 2
>Texas Tech had two blocks and two kills by Brooke Kanas on its way to a 6-3 start
>Two kills by Emily Hill help extend TTU's advantage to 10-4
>The second set was all Red Raiders as they went on to a 25-13 victory

SET 3
>A kill and an ace by Abby Marjama was followed by a kill by Wolfe to give the Anteaters an 11-6 lead
>With the help of three UCI attack errors, TTU knotted the score at 15-15
>The Red Raiders scored five unanswered, locking down the net with three blocks to move in front 22-17
>Another block would give TTU the 25-18 win
>Texas Tech would have six blocks in the set, holding UCI to a .028 hitting percentage

SET 4
>Texas Tech took control early, holding a 7-2 advantage
>The Anteaters would get within 9-7, but TTU responded with the next three points
>UCI made another run on a pair of kills and block by Marjama, 19-17
>The teams would match each other point for point until UCI ran out of time and TTU won 25-23

NOTES
>Carter was named to the all-tournament team after leading UCI in kills in two of the three matches
>Merin Kolte had a career-high six kills in her second start of the season
>UCI had a season-low five service errors
>DeSales has recorded double-digit digs in every match this season, including 20 or more twice
