Five Things to Know: Ashton Garcia
August 28, 2018 | Men's Cross Country
IRVINE, Calif. – Packed with personality, senior Ashton Garcia, aka the "Pizza King," works hard and dreams big. Here is what he had to say about his hobbies and plans after college.
THE PIZZA KING
I am the Pizza King. You may read this as I am a big fan of consuming pizza, but you would be mistaken. The art of pizza making has taken hold of a major portion of my college life and over this time I have learned quite a bit of pizza history and knowledge. I can make a mean pie.
SAY CHEESE
If you see my smile, you'll immediately notice I am missing a tooth. I find that neat.
SHRED SOME GNAR
I used to be a huge board sports person prior to running. I have been snowboarding and skateboarding for 10 years collectively. It was not until I became serious with running that I had to put both boards on hold.
AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
Something unique about me is that I actually transferred to UCI from a junior college as a sophomore. I attended College of the Canyons in 2014-15. Through the help of the coaching staff and my hard work in academics, I was able to accomplish what normally takes two years in a single year.
FROM TECHY TO TRAVELER
My current plan for the future involves pursuing a career in the world of computer science and hopefully developing some cool games or software. After a long and successful career, I will sell all my worldly possessions and become a fisherman for a portion of my life, traveling the world on the seven seas. Once I have had my fill I will retire to a mountain town in the North Pacific to live out the rest of my days becoming an urban legend.
