Men's Track & Field Season Comes to an End at NCAA West Prelims

SACRAMENTO - The 2018 UC Irvine men's track & field season came to an end at the NCAA West Preliminary Round Friday evening at Hornet Stadium.
 
Junior Asa Allen was first up on the track in the 110-meter hurdles. In his NCAA West Prelim debut, Allen clocked in at 14.71 seconds to place 41st overall.
 
A transfer from Merritt College, Allen qualified for the regional meet with a season-best 14.28, which he ran in a first-place finish at the UCR Spring Track Classic (March 24). His time ranks eighth in program history. Allen was also an All-Big West performer after taking third in the 110H at the conference championships two weeks ago.
 
Junior Brandon Lucas came in 42nd in the 200m (21.90). The Central Arizona College transfer entered the meet with a season-best 21.08. He recorded that time at the Mondo Team Challenge at Hornet Stadium on March 31. In his first year at UCI, Lucas put up top-10 marks in program history in the 100m (10.60) and 200m (21.08).
