IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team struggled to find any momentum against Big West opponent UC Santa Barbara, dropping a 4-0 decision Saturday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
The loss puts UCI at 8-14 on the season and 0-6 in conference play. The Gauchos improve to 8-12 overall and 4-1 in the Big West.
UCSB took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. On court three,
Yulin Chen and
Vivien Dvali trailed, 3-4, when the point was clinched.
The Gauchos continued to roll in singles as Amit Lev Ari defeated
Flora Amiri, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Jacqueline Tsodikova dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 5 and
Arianna Tilbury fell at No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
Stephanie Hazell was in a battle with Palina Dubavets at the top spot, 6-7 (2-7), when the match was clinched.
Yulin Chen led Amanda Atanasson, 6-3, 2-3, on court four before the match was called, while Dvali trailed 6-7 (7-9) at No. 2
UCI returns to the court tomorrow for a match against Cal Poly at Anteater Tennis Stadium at 11:00 a.m.
