IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's tennis team earned its fourth sweep of the year after defeating Eastern Washington, 7-0, Thursday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

With the win, UCI improves t0 11-8 on the season. EWU falls to 6-9 overall.

"We played some of our best tennis of the season today," said head coach Mike Saunders. "It was a pleasure to host former UCI coach Steve Clark. As always, Steve's team was a classy group of young men."

The Anteaters came out firing, winning the doubles point after triumphs at Nos. 1, 2, and 3. The duo of Mason Hansen and Luca Marquard won at the top spot, 6-1, while Daniel Gealer and Luis Lopez did not drop a single set at No. 3, earning a 6-0 victory. Vatsal Bajpai and Bruce Man-Son-Hing grabbed a 6-3 decision at No. 2.

Hansen continued his impressive day giving the 'Eaters a 2-0 lead after winning on court five, 6-0, 6-2. Gealer followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over EWU's Jeremy Mueller at No. 4.

Marquard clinched the match after defeating Flavien Raveau, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 and Lopez grabbed a 6-0, 6-3 win at the top spot.

Bajpai and Sasha Krasnov concluded the day with triumphs on courts six and two, respectively.

UCI plays BYU Friday, March 30 at 10 a.m.
