Enochs, Allen Lead UC Irvine at UCR Spring Track Classic

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -
Freshman Seth Enochs and junior Asa Allen each won their respective events to help the UC Irvine men's track & field team to a fifth-place finish (78 points) Saturday at the UCR Spring Track Classic in Riverside.
 
Enochs remained undefeated in the long jump with his third victory in as many collegiate meets. The freshman from Yucca Valley, Calif., took top honors with a leap of 24-00.25, beating out the runner-up by nearly a foot. Enochs, who established a personal-record 24-05.5 last weekend, already ranks fifth on the Anteaters' all-time charts.
 
Allen ran a season-best 14.28 to edge out Sacramento State's Andre Lindsey by .04 seconds for the 110m hurdle title. In just his second 110H race for the 'Eaters, the junior transfer from Merritt College cracked UCI's all-time top-10 with the eighth-best mark in school history.
 
In addition to his 110H victory, Allen was UC Irvine's top finisher in the 200m as he placed fourth overall at 21.92 seconds. Sophomore Stefon Goudeau (6th, 22.33) and freshman Tariq Harness (8th, 22.54) were also among the top-eight.
 
Junior Brandon Lucas was the runner-up in the 400m, clocking in at a season-best 48.56. Junior Paul Resong wasn't far behind in third with a season-best 48.57, while sophomore CJ Hicks registered a career-best 49.25 to come in fifth.
 
Sophomore Andres Woodruff claimed silver in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a lifetime-best 54.11. Freshman Kyle Sandoval added a personal-record 55.65 for a sixth-place showing, and classmate Ian Ward came in ninth (56.79).
 
Sophomore Evan Singletary anchored the Anteaters' 100m runners with a ninth-place showing (11.08). Harness was right on his heels in 10th at 11.10 seconds.
 
Sophomore Hector Garcia led the way in his first collegiate 800m, finishing sixth with a time of 1:55.01, while junior Jon Rodriguez was UCI's top performer in the 1500m (16th, 4:02.71).
 
Woodruff, Resong, Lucas and Goudeau joined forces to close out the meet by earning runner-up honors in the 4x400 relay with a season-best 3:15.15.
 
In the throws, junior Omar Valenzuela had another strong outing in the discus, coming in fourth with a toss of 166-00. Senior Jon Dickinson was also 10th in the shot put with a season-best 48-10.25, and scored in the hammer with a fifth-place showing on Friday (170-07).

Sacramento State claimed the team title with 134 points.
 
UC Irvine returns to action next week at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival in Los Angeles (March 30) and the Mondo Team Challenge in Sacramento (March 31).
