IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine won both games of its doubleheader Friday at Anteater Tennis Stadium. The Anteaters grabbed a 4-1 victory over Yale in the morning before earning a 4-1 decision over Liberty in the afternoon.
 
With the sweep, UCI improves to 10-7 overall and extends its win streak to seven games.

UC Irvine 4, Yale 1
UC Irvine clinched the doubles point and held off Yale in singles to pull out the 4-1 victory.
 
Luis Lopez and Daniel Gealer defeated the Bulldogs' Andrew Heller/Zigi Wang, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles while Bruce Man-Son-Hing and Vatsal Bajpai won at No. 2, 6-4, to get the doubles point for the 'Eaters. Mason Hansen and Luca Marquard led at No. 1, 4-2, but the match was abandoned after the point was won.
 
UCI battled in singles and clinched the match with wins at Nos. six, four and one. Hansen defeated Alan Sou on court six, 6-4, 6-4, to put UCI up 2-0 before Daniel Gealer won at No. 4, 6-7 (4-0), 4-2, when his opponent retired.
 
At the top spot, Luis Lopez earned a 7-6 (6-0), 6-1 decision over Yale's Dylan King to clinch the match for UCI.

UC Irvine returned to the court in the afternoon and earned a tough 4-1 victory over Liberty.
 
The Anteaters won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Vatsal Bajpai and Bruce Man-Son-Hing triumphed on court two, 6-2. At No. 3, Luis Lopez and Daniel Gealer defeated Liberty's Sam Matheson and Chase Burton, 6-2.
 
Lopez won his second match of the day at No. 1 singles, taking a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Matheson. Luca Marquard picked up a win at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2. Sasha Krasnov battled at No. 2 singles and triumphed in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to clinch the match.
 
Gealer and Hansen were both fighting in their third sets at Nos, four and five, respectively, when the 'Eaters clinched the match.
 
UCI will take a break for final exams and return to the court Tuesday, March 27 for a match at UCLA. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
