
UC Irvine Edged By Pacific, 9-8 In GCC Semifinals

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Fourth-seed UC Irvine battled, but came up just short losing to top-seeded Pacific, 9-8 in the semifinals of the Golden Coast Conference at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center Saturday.
The Anteaters go to 9-16 overall, while Pacific improves to 12-11 on the year.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Casey Lynton and Jack Trush paced UCI with two goals each
>Bryant Joudrie, Michael Swieca, Jason Evezard and Jon Polos also recorded goals for the Anteaters

>Jack Trush took advantage of the keeper coming out to bury a goal at 7:42 and push UCI ahead 6-5
>Pacific would capitalize on two steals that were converted in to back-to-back goals for the Tigers to put them back in front, 7-6
>Luke Pavilard would extend the lead for the Tigers to 8-6 at 3:48
>Trush would keep the Anteaters in the game firing a goal from up top at 2:12, 8-7
>A deep shot by Pavilard found the goal and stopped the momentum at 1:43 (9-7)
>A rebound putback by Jason Evezard at 1:23 kept the game interesting, 9-8
>Following a stop by Bryon Rivers, UCI used a timeout with 43 seconds remaining to draw up a play, but the final shot was deflected

>Evezard improved his team-leading goal total to 60
