
UC Irvine Moves into Top 10 After Two Rounds in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team moved into the top-10 following the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Friday at Stockton Country Club.
The Anteaters shot an even-par 284, which was a two-stroke improvement from yesterday. They are currently ninth with a 36-hole score of 570 (286-284).
No. 16 BYU took over the lead at 18-under 550, while No. 40 Nevada sits in second (552).
Junior Jonathan Kang continued to pace the 'Eaters as he carded his second-straight 2-under 69. He only had two bogeys, while firing off four birdies. Kang climbed five spots in the standings and will enter the final round in a tie for 10th at 138 (-4).
Junior Anthony Truong saw the team's biggest move, leaping 21 spots into a tie for 38th. Truong recorded a 69 (-2) with two birdies and his second eagle of the season. He was sitting at 4-under through 16 holes before his first two bogeys of the day put him at 143 (74-69).
Freshman Matt Gunson is also tied for 38th after a second-round 73 (+2). Junior Chris Casey is tied for 58th with a total of 146 (73-73).
Junior Ramiz Jamal completed seven holes before he had to withdraw due to an injury.
BYU's Peter Kuest found himself at the top of the individual leaderboard with a 9-under 133.
UC Irvine returns to Stockton Country Club for the final round of the Pacific Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 27. Tee times are slated for an 8 a.m. start.
