Women's Tennis Splits Matches Against Providence and Bryant

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PROVIDENCE, RI, SMITHFIELD, RI – UCI women's tennis split matches on the first day of the second and final east coast trip of the season.  The 'Eaters defeat Providence 6-1, followed by a 6-1 loss at Bryant.

"The match against Providence was much closer than the score revealed," said coach Elizabeth Ferris.  "Our players did a great job converting all their deuce points.  It was nice to see the players focused on working on their games and using their variety.  Our match against Bryant was tough, and our lineup was thin.  We still managed to battle; Flora and Jackie both had a chance to play higher in the lineup than usual and they rose to the occasion.  That was a big win for Flora at the No. 1 position.  I think today's confidence will carry over for our tough matches tomorrow."

"I had a great time playing at Providence," said freshman Jessica Tsukiji.  "I'm so proud of all my teammates for playing so well and making it such a fun experience!"

UCI's Nguyen lost in the No. 1 spot in a match that finished early, with Providence's Takenaka coming out on top, 6-3, 3-2.  UCI would finish strong, however, with Arianna Tilbury winning in the No. 4 spor and Danielle Garrido winning in the No. 5 spot.
