FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -
For the fourth year in a row, senior Persis William-Mensah established a new 60m school record to highlight the season-opening Lumberjack Team Challenge for the UC Irvine women's indoor track & field squad Friday evening at Northern Arizona's J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.

"Today we competed very well and had marks that stood up to the competition with many personal bests," UCI head coach Jeff Perkins said. "The performance of the day belonged to Persis William-Mensah with a new school record. I am pleased with where our women's team currently is coming off the first meet. We had many rookies come out and really show us why they are a part of the elite class we recruited, so I am excited for them."

William-Mensah led a group of seven Anteaters who placed among the top-five in their respective events as she won the 60m dash. The Costa Mesa native clocked in with a lifetime-best 7.34 (7.38 converted), bettering her previous record by .05 seconds.

Junior Hope Bushnell added a fourth-place showing thanks to a personal-record 7.61 (7.65). Bushnell moved up two spots to No. 3 in school history.
