LA JOLLA, Calif. -- No. 13 UC Irvine made a late surge, but lost 10-8 to No. 9 UC Davis at the Triton Invitational Sunday morning.

Antoine Lena and Robby Stiefel led UCI with two goals apiece, while Lovre Milos, Fynn Schuetze, Brendan Duffy and Ian Fleenor also added goals for the Anteaters.

UCI had to play catch up after trailing 6-3 at the half and 9-5 after the third period. UCI opened the final period with two goals by Robby Stiefel and another by Ian Fleenor to narrow the UCD lead to 9-8 with 2:41 left, but that would be the last time UCI would score as the Aggies closed out the game with another goal, 10-8.

UCI will close out the tournament facing host UC San Diego at 4:00 p.m. at the Canyonview Aquatic Center.
