LA JOLLA, Calif. – In the finale of the Triton Invitational, No. 13 UC Irvine dominated No. 12 UC San Diego, 13-2, Sunday afternoon at the Canyonview Aquatic Center.
The Anteaters end the tournament with a 2-2 record.
Senior
Lovre Milos led UCI with a season-high four goals.
Fynn Schuetze had two goals followed by Robby Stieffel,
Antoine Lena,
Ryan Warde,
Brendan Duffy,
Jack Trush,
Ian Fleenor and Casey
Lynton with one goal each.
Bryant Joudrie and
Miles Kalbus each added two assists.
Goalkeeper
Matej Matijevic had 12 saves in 28 minutes and
Byron Rivers stopped two balls in four minutes of action.
UCI jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period on a pair of goals by
Lovre Milos at 7:06 and 3:16 and one by
Fynn Schuetze (7:35) and
Antoine Lena (3:34).
Milos opened the second quarter with another goal (6:09) on a pass courtesy of
Jon Polos. The Tritons two goals came from Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt at 5:40 and again at 3:17.
Ryan Warde (5:34),
Jack Trush (2:42) and
Ian Fleenor (1:54) found the back of the net to extend the advantage to 8-2
Three more Anteaters got in to the scoring in the third period with
Brendan Duffy,
Casey Lynton and
Robby Stiefel recording goals to move the margin to 11-2.
A goal by Schuetz and Milos ended the scoring in the final period.
UCI will participate in the Conference Cup hosted by Pepperdine next Sat. (Sept. 9) The Anteaters will take on  the Tritons again at 11:30 then Loyola Marymount at 5:00 p.m.
