IRVINE, Calif. -- The UC Irvine women's golf team returns its entire lineup plus adds talented newcomers as they look forward to the 2017-18 schedule.
The premier event of the season will be the team's own UC Irvine Invitational Oct. 30-31 at the Santa Ana Country Club.
"We are excited to be hosting our tournament at Santa Ana," head coach Julie Brooks said. "They have recently re-designed the course and we are excited to take on the new challenges. We value our partnership with Santa Ana and appreciate their support of UCI golf."
Regional competitors Pepperdine and San Diego State will highlight the field at the UC Irvine Invitational. Prior to competition, a College Am will take place on Sunday with a salute to military personnel, including participants playing in honor of fallen soldiers.
To open the fall schedule, UCI will return to the Ptarmigan Ram Classic (Sept. 17-19) where they finished second last year behind Avery French's third place performance.
Two new tournaments follow in October, the Chip-N Club Invitational hosted by Nebraska (Oct. 1-3) and the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational hosted by Seattle (Oct. 16-17).
"Our fall schedule is a good test and sets us up to see who we are," Brooks noted. "We should be contenders in every event."
Following The Gold Rush in the spring, another new tournament The Rebel Beach, co-hosted by UNLV and Long Beach State, takes place Feb. 26-27. The Fresno State Classic (Mar. 5-6) and the Anuenue Spring Break Classic (Mar. 26-28) round out the regular season.
UCI will be hosting the Big West Championship at Strawberry Farms Golf Course Apr. 14-16.
"We look forward to hosting the Big West Championships at Strawberry Farms," Brooks added. "Hopefully we can take advantage of the familiar surroundings plus it gives our fans a chance to come cheer for us locally."
