UC Irvine Places Sixth at Big West Championship

 

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- UC Irvine finished sixth in the Big West Conference Championship that concluded Wednesday at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara.

The Anteaters ended with a 54-hole total of 870 as UC Santa Barbara won the title with a three-round score of 852.  CSUN was second at 853 and Cal Poly third at 855.

UCI junior David Kim shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to place eighth at 215 for his eighth top-10 showing of the season and his top Big West finish.

Senior Bryan Shin shot 74 Wednesday to finish 21st at 218, junior Ryan O'Connor placed 26th at 220 after also carding a 74, junior Jonathan Young (76) was 32nd at 222 and freshman Jonathan Kang, who shot a 1-under 71 in the final round, placed 33rd at 223.

Felix Mory of CSUN earned medalist honors with a 10-under total of 206 after a final round of 2-under 70.
