MARICOPA, Ariz. – UC Irvine had three players in the top 10 individually as the Anteaters captured the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational at the at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
It is the 17th tournament win in program history and the first since the Anteaters won the Fresno State Lexus Classic at the Copper River Country Club on Feb. 24, 2009.
UC Irvine topped the 18-team field with a score of 874 (296-290-288), shooting a season-low 288 on the final round Friday. UCI finished six strokes in front of second place Sacramento State (880).
UCI was led by Janet Yeo's career-best third place finish, recording a three round total of 214 (75-68-71), one stroke shy of Sacramento State's Julia Becker and Nevada's Kaitlin Collom (213). Collom won a tiebreaker to take home the individual honor.
Junior Kaley In had her best finish of the year with a sixth place performance. She shot a one-under par over the final two rounds to finish at 219 (76-71-72).
Avery French posted her fourth top 10 finish of the season, placing 10th with a score of 221 (73-77-71).
Breanne Jones was tied for 38th at 228 (72-82-74) and Sabrina Li was tied for 75th with a 54-hole total of 237 (89-74-74).
UCI will compete at the Big West Championships Apr. 23-25 at the Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside.
