IRVINE, Calif. – Senior
Lovre Milos scored four goals to lead No. 6 UC Irvine to an 11-4 victory over No. 12 UC San Diego Wednesday at the Anteater Aquatics Center.
Milos had two steals to go with his game-high four goals. Senior
Antoine Lena followed with three goals, while
Robby Stiefel,
Ryan Warde,
Kyle Trush and
Fynn Schuetze each had one. Goalkeeper
Matej Matijevic posted 18 saves.
UC San Diego had goals from Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt, Cooper Martin, Luka Vasijevic, Collin Sullivan.
Lovre Milos (6:41) and
Antoine Lena (4:45) started the scoring with a goal in the first period. UCI had a big second quarter with two goals from Milos and one each from
Ryan Warde (6:48), Lena (3:27) and
Robby Stiefel (2:19) to take a 7-2 lead at the break.
In the second half, UCI held the Tritons scoreless in the third period, while adding goals from
Kyle Trush (6:25) and another by Lena on a pass from
Jack Trush at 2:31. Another Milos goal started the final stanza at 6:26 then
Fynn Schuetze added one at 5:41. UCSD would score the final two goals of the game, one on a penalty shot.
UCI will conclude the regular season hosting No. 7 Long Beach State in an important Golden Coast Conference game starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Anteater Aquatics Center. UCI will honor its seven seniors before the game.
