Kang, Jamal Lead Anteaters on Day Two of SMC Invitational

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team dropped three spots to 15th after the second round of play at The Saint Mary's Invitational Tuesday at Poppy Hills Golf Club.
 
The 'Eaters have a two-round total of 586 (297-289), putting them just one stroke behind Fresno State and No. 20 Santa Clara. No. 33 USC leads the 18-team field at 555.
 
Sophomore Jonathan Kang and junior Ramiz Jamal recorded the Anteaters' best rounds of the day as they each carded an even-par 71. Kang moved up seven spots in the standings to 44th at 146 (75-71), while Jamal's five-stroke improvement bumped him into a tie for 50th at 147 (76-71).

Senior David Kim is still tops on the team as he sits in 33rd place with a 36-hole score of 144 (71-73).
 
Seniors Ryan O'Connor and Jonathan Young are also 62nd and 99th, respectively. O'Connor has posted a 149 (75-74), while Young is at 159 (81-78).

The Trojans' Justin Suh (133) holds a three-stroke lead over his teammate Kaito Onishi on the individual leaderboard.
 
UC Irvine wraps up action at the three-day Saint Mary's Invitational with the final round of play on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
