PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team wrapped up the first round of action at The Saint Mary's Invitational in 12th place Monday at Poppy Hills Golf Course.
 
The 'Eaters recorded an 18-hole score of 297. They are three strokes behind UT Arlington and four back of No. 20 Santa Clara. San Francisco leads the 18-team field, which features seven nationally ranked programs, at 3-under 281. No. 13 Stanford and No. 21 Colorado State are tied for second (283).
 
Senior David Kim currently sits in the top-20 as he is tied for 16th at even-par 71. Kim finished the day with three birdies.
 
Senior Ryan O'Connor and sophomore Jonathan Kang both carded a 75 (+4) to tie for 51st, while junior Ramiz Jamal wasn't far behind in 55th with a 5-over 76. Senior Jonathan Young rounded out the Anteater contingent in 96th place (81).
 
UC Irvine returns to Poppy Hills Golf Course for the second round of the SMC Invitational on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
