NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team wrapped up one round of singles and two rounds of doubles Friday at the CSUN Fall Invitational.
 
Sophomores Gillian Parker and Jacqueline Tsodikova both advanced to tomorrow's quarterfinal round in the Singles Silver Bracket. Parker took down Oral Robert's Cece Cornelius, 6-2, 6-2, while Tsodikova dispatched Frana Ugarkovic of Sacramento State, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Sophomore Yulin Chen was also victorious in the Black Draw, defeating Kara Hinton (Azusa Pacific), 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
 
In doubles action, Danielle Garrido/Tilbury topped the Hornets' Gulnova/Ugarkovic, 6-3, before dropping a 7-6 decision to Sadeghavziri/Casasampere of Long Beach State.
 
Flora Amiri and Yulin Chen also went 1-1 as they topped Cornelius/Vasiljevic (Oral Roberts), 6-4, and fell in a tightly-contested match to Espindola/Alvarez of Iowa State, 7-6.
 
Parker and Tsodikova suffered a 6-2 setback in their opening round match, but bounced back with a 7-5 win in the consolation quarterfinals.
 
Freshman Clair Dean and senior Ashlynn Hall saw similar results in the Gold Bracket, coming up short against Sagara/Ruiz of Cal State Los Angeles, 6-2, prior to taking down Oral Roberts' Mercado/Gisbert, 6-4.
