LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's tennis team won four of their five singles matches on the final day of the Beach Tennis Tournament Sunday at Rhodes Tennis Center.

Sophomore
Arianna Tilbury claimed the Flight C singles consolation title as she upended CSUN's Arpe Bagumyan in three sets. After dropping a tough 6-7 (7) decision, she bounced back to take the next two sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.

The 'Eaters also won three matches in extra play. Freshman
Flora Amiri picked up her first collegiate victory, defeating Monika Van de Vondel (CSUN), 6-2, 1-0 ret. In addition, freshman
Clair Dean outlasted Ashley Knecht of Portland State, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, while sophomore
Gillian Parker dispatched Gerda Upeniece (PSU), 6-3, 6-2.

UCI was not as successful in doubles with Dean/Parker suffering a tough 6-4 setback to Long Beach State's Devarakonda/Sadeghvaziri, 6-4, in the Flight B consolation championship. Amiri/

UC Irvine will have a week off to prepare for the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in San Diego, Oct. 19-22.
