TEAMS PLAY PINK IN OCTOBER

| By:
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, UC Irvine Athletics will host "Think Pink" games in the month of October.

REAL MEN WEAR PINK
Both men's and women's teams will join in efforts to bring awareness about breast cancer. UCI's Think Pink festivities kick off with the men's water polo game against San Jose State on Oct. 6. Moving to the following week, men's soccer on Oct. 11 against UC Riverside then women's soccer versus UC Davis on Oct. 12. Women's volleyball against UC Riverside Oct. 14 and women's golf at their home tournament Oct. 30 rounding out the month long recognition.

SUPPORTING A GOOD CAUSE
Fans will able to make a donation at any of the games. Think Pink Adidas Climalite wristbands will be available at each game for a minimum $2 donation. All proceeds collected during the events will be donated to the UC Irvine Breast Health Center.
Balls signed by the teams will also be auctioned off at the events.

PRETTY IN PINK
The women's volleyball and women's golf teams will be sporting special pink uniforms at their events. The soccer teams will warm-up with pink balls, while men's water polo will have pink ribbons on their robes. All fans are encouraged to join in and wear pink as well.

BEST OF THE BEST AT UC IRVINE
The UC Irvine Breast Health Center is one of only 20 accredited breast centers in California dedicated to the comprehensive care, multidisciplinary team approach to coordinating the best treatment options, and patient access to ongoing information about clinic trials and new treatment options.

ADJUSTING YOUR COLOR SETTINGS
The women's soccer game against UC Davis on Oct. 12 will be shown on ESPN3. This marks the fourth straight season the Anteaters have hosted ESPN3 for a game starting in 2014 when UCI downed UC Santa Barbara, 2-1, in dramatic fashion. UCI produced shutout wins over Long Beach State in 2015 and UC Santa Barbara in 2016 all on ESPN3.

BLUE & GOLD & PINK
The men's water polo team will entertain San Jose State in the Golden Coast Conference opener Friday. The sixth-ranked Anteaters are coming off an upset of No. 1 UCLA last week and are 9-4 overall. The Anteater Aquatics Complex will be the site of the GCC Championship Nov. 17-19 with a NCAA bid on the line.

MAKING STRIDES
The women's volleyball team is off to its best start in program history at 14-2, most recently beating Long Beach State for the third consecutive time. The Anteaters have already surpassed the 2016 (13-18) and 2015 (13-15) season win totals. UCI is currently ranked ninth in the country in aces (1.77) and 14th in winning percentage (.875).

PAR-TEE
Women's golfer Janet Yeo won the individual title at the Chip-N Club Invitational earlier this week. It is the junior's first career tournament victory and the first by an Anteater women's player since 2009.

Men's soccer, who upended No. 8 Denver earlier in the season, currently leads the Big West with 23 goals scored and has put away at least one ball in 11 straight home matches.
